The new season of Knit and Crochet Now! will premiere May 13, 2013. Each episode will air on Create TV, a network of PBS television stations whose instructional programs provide expert advice on arts and crafts, food, gardening, home improvement and travel.

Meet Maggie Pace

Maggie is an artist, graphic designer and avid crafter, but the bulk of her professional experience is in knitting. She started her career in fiber arts when she founded Pick Up Sticks, a knitting design company, in 2003. One of her specialties is knitted felt. She has done several projects for the TV show and has written two books on the craft.

Luckily for Knit and Crochet Now!, Maggie has been with us as an expert from the beginning and always brings her fresh, lively point of view to the show. She lives in Burlington, Vt., with her husband and two children.

Crochet Baby Sleep Sack

Robyn has been an expert on Knit and Crochet Now! since its second year, and in that time, she has managed to write several books and design many patterns. She will also be teaching online classes for Annie’s, so watch for her in the near future.

Her winding path to a crochet career began as most others; that is, not in the industry. She graduated from Penn State University with a degree in architectural engineering and then pursued a career as a structural engineer. Her old day job may seem like a far cry from crochet fashion design, but for Robyn, they are one in the same. She uses her ability to break down big projects into manageable parts when she develops her designs.

Robyn lives in Pennsylvania with her husband and daughter.

Meet Kristin Nicholas, Knitting Expert

Kristin Nicholas is a decorative artist, knitwear designer, Knit and Crochet Now! expert and author who resides in the hills of western Massachusetts. Her mediums of self-expression are all those creative endeavors related to the decorative arts – – stitchery, knitting, home furnishings, painting, interior design, ceramics and gardening. She is the author of numerous books, patterns, and she even has a line of wallpaper.

Kristin, her husband, Mark, and her daughter, Julia, live in a 1751 farmhouse surrounded by her flock of sheep, chickens, and assorted dogs and cats. You can follow her life on the farm on her blog.

Light Up the Room

On my many visits to Pinterest this past year, I kept seeing really wonderful knit and crochet lampshade covers, and I knew they would be a perfect project for the TV show. These are fairly easy projects and are worked in one long piece that is wrapped around the shade once finished. The knit cover is an easy lace stitch, and the crochet is a shell stitch repeat.
